Bargains still to be found in southern Italy
27 August 2008
People thinking of buying a property abroad may find good value in stunning surroundings in the south of Italy, according to a national newspaper.
The Sunday Times pointed out that while the region has a reputation for attracting the rich, it also has plenty to offer to those with a smaller budget.
A local estate agent told the newspaper that buyers prepared to look off the beaten track and away from the best-known tourist areas would find that homes can be bought for as little as a quarter of the prices found in the most popular resorts.
Flats in town centres are available for £160,000, while anyone looking to make a profit from buying in Italy will find that there are plenty of renovation projects in the area which can be purchased for half that figure.
