Buyers looking for ski property could benefit heading away from big resorts

People looking for properties in Italy near to the ski-slopes could benefit from heading away from the larger resorts, according to a property expert.
Gemma Knowles, Italian property specialist, told the Independent that people thinking about moving to the country in order to enjoy its slopes could look at Valtournenche or Aosta.
The town of Valtournenche is based at the foot of the Matterhorn in the Aosta Valley, close to the more established purpose-built resort of Cervinia.
Ms Knowles added that prices can start at around £150,000 for small-scale new renovation projects.
"Valtourneche is a pretty village with ski runs directly joining the main pistes between Cervinia and Zermatt. It's also much nicer than Cervinia, which isn't that attractive," she added.
Ms Knowles also stated that Aosta was an "attractive town" which has access to the slopes around Pila, where "nice apartments" can be found for around £130,000.
