Venice to host first tourism real estate exhibition in April 2010

15 November 2009

Venice will host the first international exhibition on tourism real estate in April next year. Tourism Real Estate (TRE) will target international operators in real estate quality tourism, local governments, territories and entire supply chains in the sector.

The event, promoted by ExpoVenice and located at the Arsenal – the old Venice shipyard – will be held from 15 to 18 April 2010. It aims to facilitate the matching of supply and demand of properties designated to tourism and service providers of the sector. Not a traditional trade fair but four days of discussion, meetings and business relations with the international actors of one of the few economical sectors untouched by the crisis and certainly one of those that may give new incentives to economic recovery.

The latest data show that - despite a sharp drop in tourism turnover (-4 billion in the case of Italy only in 2008) - luxury travel has seen a growth of 10% per annum in the last five years and actually 25 million tourists spent EUR 116 billion (about 25% of the total sector income) for their exclusive holidays last year.

The event will be mainly dedicated to B2B, and will see the worldwide major resort chains, banks, investment funds, developer, architecture and construction companies, cities and territories as the main players. On the other side, the B2C area will host the high profile real estate agencies and individuals, with the aim to weave a network between the owners of villas and exclusive residences and their potential buyers.

A selected program of conferences and round tables will enhance the four day fair, enriching the debate on the new trends, expanding territories and innovative projects that are redefining the market trends. Besides discussing the traditional offer, the fair will be debating: "niche tourism" related to the structures of the world of Golf, Spa and Gaming; the new Low cost and High quality demand; sustainable tourism development as well as design and innovative models (from the ice hotels to the floating ones, passing through the temporary hotel).

It will also debate the issues of facility management in Real Estate Tourism and of the effective management of outsourced services (security, training, transportation, risk management, human resource). A central point will be also the topic of redevelopment, with a particular focus on water-front - a very important issue, especially in countries like Italy with a huge number of single hotel owners.
