Property in Italy still in demand
31 Oct 2008
Italy is holding well under the current economic storm and property prices still rise in attractive areas, according to countrylife.co.uk.
The website says that premium second homes are still much in demand, thanks to the country's "artistic heritage, prudent mortgage policies and tight planning controls".
Guido Lodigiani, of estate agent Gabetti, told the website: "Being within the Eurozone gives Italy exchange rate stability, and the country's historic, cultural and architectural heritage gives some guarantees over the solidity of property values."
The most attractive properties are those in desirable locations such as near a beach, marina or ski slope.
